Superbe Nouvel Avion Léger

The light aviation industry has been struggling to produce an aircraft which answers the problem of the rising cost of fuel, but LH Aviation, based at Melun-Villaroche airport, 20 miles south east of Paris, have come up with an innovative and extremely economical design. It’s very efficient pusher propeller, high performance low drag wing and ultra lightweight construction all contribute to the aircraft’s startling fuel consumption figures.

The two-seat LH-10 Ellipse is fast, it can fly at 175 knots (201mph), whilst achieving slightly more than 50 miles per gallon. This increases to 60 mpg if the pilot chooses to fly at a more fuel-efficient 80 knots, when maximum range becomes 864 miles. The Ellipse is made entirely of vacuum-infused carbon fibre and is powered by a 1350cc Rotax engine.

The Ellipse’s large tandem cockpit is very comfortable, and with the throttle in the left hand and a mini-stick in the right hand, you have superb visibility in all directions. The controls and instrumentation are also installed for the rear seat. The wings and stabilizer can be quickly dismantled in a few minutes by two people, without any tools and without emptying any fuel tank. The aircraft can then be loaded onto a trailer. The LH10 is available in kit form for home building, or completely assembled and ready to fly.

I must say, as much as I love my MX5, I would really like one of these little aircraft! It is twice as economical and a fair bit quicker than most cars and represents a huge step forward in private commuter aeroplane design. You can read more  by clicking on the logo:

Eden Camp

Located on the outskirts of the market town of Malton, Eden Camp is a multi-award winning Modern History Theme Museum housed within the grounds of an original World War Two prisoner of war camp.  It was developed into a museum by a local businessman to stand as a tribute to all people, civilian and military, who endured hardship throughout the second world war.

Today, Eden Camp has people of all ages visiting from around the world to see the story of World War Two re-created using sights, sounds, smells and moving figures to create a unique atmosphere that takes you  back in time to wartime Britain.

Eden Camp is a really good day out for all the family, get more details by clicking on the logo:

Turbo or not Turbo, That is the Question…

The recently announced BBR-Cosworth supercharger conversion kit for the MX5 sounds very attractive, if you can afford the £4995 price tag and the hike in your insurance premiums. A supercharger has a number of distinct advantages over a turbocharger, there is no acceleration lag, the extra power is delivered evenly throughout the rev range and the kit is relatively simple to fit. This American video shows you just what you get for your money and I think it is very impressive!

Liquid Gold Test Results

I recently bought a bottle of the new Triplewax Liquid Gold car shampoo to see if its claimed self drying properties really worked. Well I have just tried it out on my wife’s new Mazda 2 and I have to say I am very impressed with the results.

The shampoo is easy to use but feels slightly sticky at the recommended dilution of 100ml to a bucket of warm water.. It also produces lots of foam  but is very easy to rinse off. As you can see the car looks great and the cleaning time was reduced by more than half.

The only criticism I have is that you get just four or five washes out of a bottle so it is quite expensive. However Liquid Gold saves lots of time and gets great results. I will probably buy it again  as it cuts out the labour of leathering the car. Prices vary a lot at the moment so shop around; as the product becomes established it will become cheaper. Give it try and see what you think!
