Listen To Them Yankees!

The prestigious American “Car and Driver” magazine has published its annual 10 Best Cars list and the Mazda MX5 is one of the chosen few. For a model to be considered, it has to be on sale in the US for less than $80,000 and excel in testing. Eddie Alterman, editor-in-chief, explains:  “We are looking for those automobiles that deliver spectacular value, real driver engagement, and the highest fulfilment of their intended missions. Our testing takes place over a week on real roads in the real world, marshalling more than 60 new test cars and our entire editorial staff. It’s a real workout, and only the very best cars on the market emerge victorious.”

Car and Driver praises the Mazda MX5 for its affordability, low curb weight and high agility. In their review they also stress that it’s not only about raw power.“If 167 horsepower sounds tepid, keep in mind that it only has to propel some 2450 pounds, which it manages smartly. And in any case, the the Miata’s magic lies in its eager responses and the unfiltered connection between car and driver.”
