Castle Howard

There is a popular misconception that stately homes are only visited by pensioners like me, but Castle Howard, the finest country house in Yorkshire, has much to offer visitors of all ages. Set in 1,000 acres of magnificent parkland and approached by a lovely drive with the MX5 roof down, Castle Howard is an eighteenth century mansion which has been home to the Howard family for 300 years. The house is open from 13th March and contains a world class collection of furniture and art, whilst the grounds are open all year round and offer endless walks, boat trips on the beautiful lake and a programme of fun outdoor activities for all the family.

Of course there is an excellent cafe and a delicatessen, together with a whole range of  award winning shops for you to browse. Castle Howard is famous for its daffodils so why not plan a spring visit and blow the winter cobwebs away?
